Submissions are under review! #GLCFF

All submissions to the 2016 Great Lakes Christian Film Festival will be finalized by June 15, 2016.

It has been a long year, yet time has gone quickly since last year’s film festival. It has been an amazing experience as we continue this journey of bringing you the best faith-based films from around the globe. Last year we had over 90 films submitted to our festival, with just over 50 becoming official selections. There were many great films on the cutting floor that either didn’t fit the criteria or may have just been a little under the quality we were looking for. Nevertheless, those that did not make it still were excellent films and could possibly win at other festivals abroad.

cropped-glcff-laurel1.jpgThis year, we promise the same quality assurance in selecting the best films to be screened. Some of the selections will be selected and reviewed but may not make the screening, depending on the scheduling, but will be available via the GLCFF TV page via the YouTube playlist. We received over 150 submissions this year and I have to say, we are just as impressed, if not more, as we were with this year’s films. We promise to give every film it’s due diligence and review them thoroughly making sure we not only have the best films represented, but making sure we give honor to those who have excelled in their productions.

And the Nominees Are… #GLCFF

2015 Great Lakes Christian Film Festival Nominees Announced

It is our pleasure to give you the nominees for this year very first ever Christian Film Festival in Buffalo, New York. Our festival would have been nothing without the great selection of films we had to screen. Although the attendance was lower than desired, we over 75 attendees throughout the week, including over 40 people in attendance to view the screening of the feature film Adrenaline, a nominee, during our opening night Sunday August 16, 2015.

Throughout the week, several filmmakers and their guests came to be present during the screening of their films, as well as, to view other films screening. We had regional filmmakers Debbie Camper [Me, Myself, Not I] from Maryland and Patrice Johnson [Set Free] from Pennsylvania representing their projects, each bringing their guests for support. Tina Batten [Walking In the Spirit] came the furthest from California and had two of her friends from New York City drive up to support her. Four New York State filmmakers, Hannah Ruth and
Noah Giamei from Ithaca [Heaven On Earth], and Bryan and Tameakia Little from Rochester, arrived for one day each, and were amazed at the amount of quality selections for the festival. Bryan and Tameakia came to present their trailer of the up-and-coming documentary “Making Jesus Famous: Life Behind the Jesus Musik”.

The biggest surprise came when we were blessed with the presence of Isaac Hernandez, Vice President of Programming for Parables TV and Uplifting TV. Not only did he make connections with the filmmakers who came, but he added new films to the networks as a result of this festival. He was so impressed with the amount of films submitted and was really fascinated with films he has never seen before this festival.

Over 90 films were submitted [60+ hours of film] and over 50 films were selected [30+ hours of film] in various categories, screened in 2 rooms, in 4 days. It was a grueling process from start to finish for our first one, and yet we we encouraged and prophesied to plan for the next one. We are looking at a possible new venue for 2016 near the City of Buffalo. Please check the site at least monthly to get the latest details.
