The Great Lakes Christian Film Festival (GLCFF) is an annual event that celebrates and showcases Christian-themed films and filmmakers. Let’s explore the history of this influential festival and its journey over the years.

The GLCFF was founded in 2014 by Shawn Patrick Greene, a filmmaker and writer from Buffalo, New York. Greene recognized the need for a platform that would provide a space for Christian filmmakers to exhibit their work and connect with audiences who were seeking inspirational and faith-based content. With a passion for both film and faith, Greene took it upon himself to establish the GLCFF.

The inaugural edition of the festival took place in August 2014 in Buffalo, New York. It featured a diverse selection of Christian films, including feature-length movies, documentaries, short films, and music videos. The festival aimed to provide a platform for independent Christian filmmakers to showcase their projects and foster a sense of community among like-minded individuals.

As the GLCFF gained recognition and popularity, it expanded its reach and offerings. In subsequent years, the festival attracted submissions from both national and international filmmakers, further diversifying the selection of films. This allowed attendees to experience a broad spectrum of Christian-themed content, including dramas, comedies, animations, and thought-provoking documentaries.

The GLCFF also focused on providing opportunities for networking and education within the Christian film industry. It organized workshops, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with filmmakers, encouraging dialogue and learning among attendees. These initiatives not only facilitated the growth of emerging filmmakers but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among industry professionals.

Over the years, the festival continued to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape of the film industry. It embraced technological advancements and the rise of digital distribution, enabling filmmakers to showcase their work through online platforms. This allowed the GLCFF to expand its audience reach and extend the impact of the films beyond the festival’s physical location.

Today, the Great Lakes Christian Film Festival remains a significant event in the Christian film community. It serves as a platform for filmmakers to share their stories, explore their creativity, and promote Christian values and messages through the medium of film. The festival continues to attract a wide range of talented filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts who are passionate about Christian-themed cinema.

Through the GLCFF, filmmakers have the opportunity to gain recognition for their work, connect with like-minded individuals, and impact audiences with their inspiring and uplifting stories. The festival’s commitment to showcasing quality Christian films has contributed to the growth and recognition of the genre, helping it gain a broader audience and mainstream acceptance.

The Great Lakes Christian Film Festival has a rich history of celebrating and promoting Christian-themed films. Since its inception in 2014, the festival has grown into a significant platform for filmmakers, fostering community, inspiring creativity, and sharing powerful stories of faith and hope. With each passing year, the GLCFF continues to leave a lasting impact on the Christian film industry and its audiences.

    • I am not sure if anyone replied you. However, it is a great thing to want to know more about God. It is in fact the Lord’s doing that you are seeking. Find a local BIBLE believing church, talk to the pastor and express your needs, concerns and fears. Say a simple prayer before you embark on the search and the Lord will direct your steps. All the best and I pray for God’s direction as you embark on this new and great journey. God Bless you
